OUR SCISSORS Exhibition, Design Museum of Helsinki, Sept-Oct 2017
FISKARS celebrates its 50th Anniversary of the Iconic Orange Handles Scissors!. I am thrilled to be part of this incredible show on view at the Design Museo in Helsinki Finland. To celebrate the scissors anniversary, and my love and adoration of this scissor, I created and installed a folkloric blooming arch entitled "A Petal's Edge".
I have always been very inspired by Finland and Lapland's folk arts, like design details found in embroideries, painted ceramics, quilts and folklore. I reinterpreted this imagery, to create my own pattern. I created a 3D version of this pattern and explored using the side of the paper in multiple to create dimension. Secondly, when the curators told me I was exhibiting under an arch, I wanted to create a lovely, blooming, dynamic garden for viewers to walk under.

I have created a dynamic, oceanic installation featuring massive swirling paper waves, on behalf of the Lonely Whale Foundation (www.lonelywhale.org). My installation is just one of the many rooms that were designed, and built by other artists like Lady Gaga's Born this Way Foundation, the Art Hoe Collective, Kate Moross, Radiant Human, and many more...
